Leadership Development

We invite you to visit our beautiful campus and hope you take advantage of all we have to offer. Once you are a student, we encourage you to connect with current leaders. Registered Campus Organizations (RCOs) register with SEAL each academic year; once they begin the registration process, they will be visible on Shoreline and remain visible on the system all year. You do not need to be a student peruse all of our various RCOs and start to brainstorm who you would like to learn more about!

Shoreline is an integral way for you to get connected on one centralized tool. This does not mean that engagement will only be found online - but it is a good place to start. This platform is also home to official Class Pages. You will see your class page on the left column under "MY GROUPS" and have been automatically added to your respective class. Jump on your group page to begin engaging with your peers today.

If you have any questions about getting involved, reach out to our advising team via email at campusorgs@sa.ucsb.edu or stop by our Student Life Resource Center (SRB 1104) or the Student Life Suite (SRB 2260).

Finding Community Away From Home

UCSB is home to individuals from all over! SEAL recognizes that moving to a new area whether you are coming from a few cities over, across the country, or from around the globe can be an experience that pushes you out of your comfort zone. By choosing to pursue your education a little further from home, you are already demonstrating independence, adaptability, and resilience.

As an out of state student, you have access to resources that help you discover what you want your collegiate experience to be like, provide opportunities for connection and belonging, and gain many meaningful connections that will make UC Santa Barbara feel like a home away from home.

SEAL is here to support you every step of the way to get you connected and find your community. Our 500+ Registered Campus Organizations (RCOs) await your unique perspectives and are excited to learn more about what makes you, you!

As an out of state student, here are some action steps to quickly immerse yourself in the great benefits of getting involved at UCSB:

  • Explore Shoreline, the campus's online engagement platform. You will be able to see the 500+ RCOs, what they're all about, how often they meet, etc. The Shoreline event page is another great tool to see the various events happening all throughout campus.
  • Check out the Campus Involvement Fairs occurring at the start of Fall, Winter, and Spring quarters. RCOs will be tabling and you can peruse organizations that are of interest to you. Nothing beats in-person interactions to see who you click with the most and which RCOs will push you to be the best version of yourself.
  • Stop by SEAL located on the second floor of the Student Resource Building (SRB). At the top of the stairs, turn left, and chat with our front desk interns to the left of EOP. They can help you get connected to Shoreline, start your own campus organization, etc.
